I am a creative director with over 15 years of experience in print, identity development, collateral, and overseeing web design. I have managed departments, been responsible for budgets, and have always been involved in developing content, as well. In other words, I love what I do, and I believe I do it quite well.

I have directed Outside magazine, Outside magazine's Special Issues, Sports Illustrated for Women, Business 2.0, Mother Jones, and several custom publications for various companies.

Having a background in publishing, I live and breathe by deadlines. I have spent years working with artists and photographers and have a Rolodex that reflects those long-term relationships.

Creative Director,  2006-2008
Worked with editorial staff to create original content, instrumental in writing display, increased newsstand sell-through by 15%. Worked with sales and marketing to develop direct marketing pieces, and all ancillary collateral work imperative to promoting Foundation for National Progress, the magazine’s benefactor. 
Won ASME General Excellence, publishing’s highest honor, for 2007.

Sports Illustrated for Women, New York, New York,

Worked closely with editor-in-chief and photo director to continue a Sports Illustrated spin off for women. Involved in content development, line-editing, overall tone of magazine.

Creative Director, 1999-2002
Created, directed, designed, and produced national award-winning launch as part of Fortune family. Oversaw staff of ten. Worked closely with editor-in-chief to conceive and produce all content, cover concepts, photo shoots, and illustration. 

Outside Magazine, Santa Fe, New Mexico
Art Director, 1999
Directed, designed and produced monthlyfeatures and departments, including overseeing all photo shoots and illustration assignments. Managed staff of eight designers, photo editors, and interns.

Special Issues, Outside Magazine
Art Director, 1996-1999
Conceptualized, designed and produced auxiliary editorial products. Instrumental in creating lineups with editorial staff. Grew advertising revenue grew by 43% and newsstand sell-through by 38%. Designed and produced award-winning 20th anniversary photography book, Exposure.

2003-current
Art directed several titles for custom publishing division. Worked closely with editors and client to design and produce award-winning quarterly publication for Safeway and its eight corporate divisions throughout the United States and Canada. Redesigned 2007/2008 California Visitor Guide; in current production.

IDG publishing, San Francisco, 
2003-2004
Redesigned cover, including logo redraw with Jonathan Hoefler for Macworld magazine. Worked closely with circulation, publisher, and art director to increase newsstand sales and consumer awareness. Designed and produced several other one-off titles working closely to develop content, visual tone, and voice.
