Birch Aquarium at Scripps
The Graphic Artist is responsible for graphic design for internal and external communications related to Birch Aquarium marketing, advertising, education and outreach programs, special events, exhibits and the guest experience. Working closely with the marketing department to ensure that all internal and external communications follow branding guidelines. Takes design projects from concept to completion including (but not limited to): print and web ads, brochures, newsletters, internal and external signage, billboards, posters and social media graphics and program branding Manages design projects, including defining budget constraints, planning design concept, determining print materials and production options, coordinating with vendors, presenting designs to stakeholders, making revisions based on stakeholder feedback and meeting project deadlines. Assists the Exhibits Team with graphic design and graphic layout to interpret current science and technology, including Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO) science and research, to the general public in a high quality format. Creates appropriate illustrations and drawings, data charts and layouts for exhibit elements. Procures images pertinent to scientific content represented in exhibit displays.
