American Academy of Ophthalmology
To provide strategic creative solutions, design expertise and to be an authority on expressing the Academy’s “brand story” through print, web, social media, illustrations, video and presentations directed to key audiences — Academy members, the public, patients and health policy makers. This position involves collaboration across all Academy divisions with an understanding of Academy programs, products and services. This position requires the ability to deliver consistent, high-quality designed projects, to be on brand, on schedule and on budget.


•	Collaborate with marketing, communications and product teams, to strategize, produce and promote Academy programs, products and services that are representative of a single Academy brand. 
•	Manage and prioritize a high-volume of projects in a fast-paced environment; negotiate timelines to maintain an efficient and effective workflow.  
•	Communicate and engage staff about brand strategy, governance and usage guidelines that ensures consistency and supports a single Academy brand. 
•	Expand creative abilities by staying abreast of design trends and branding best practices to evolve brand standards; maintain current knowledge of technology and software to better execute projects. 
•	Contribute to and build upon existing Brand & Creative internal workflow procedures/guidelines to ensure output that meets/exceeds expectations.


•	5+ years’ experience in a design and production role
•	Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc), and working knowledge of MS Office (PowerPoint and Word)  
•	Knowledge of other creative applications, such as Dreamweaver, Premiere and Final Cut Pro a plus 
•	Advanced familiarity with Mac systems and software 
•	Strong knowledge of printing processes, production, color standards and preflight requirements
•	Familiarity with book production/eBook conversion  
•	Understanding of responsive design, HTML/CSS, current best practices for web and mobile 
•	Knowledge of brand identity, governance and execution with an understanding of brand architecture and brand management  
•	Ability to work within brand guidelines  
•	Strong design aesthetic in layout, composition, typography and color usage 
•	Highly skilled in conceptual ideation and collaborative brainstorming 
•	Strong ability to learn technology and keep up with ever-changing advances and capabilities 
•	Capable of keeping abreast with current design, photography and print production techniques 
•	BA/BFA in graphic design or equivalent combination of education and experience
•	Strong understanding of graphic design principles and practices
