Creative Copywriter
University of California Riverside
Writes, drafts, reviews, edits, proofs, and finalizes compelling content and key messages for campaign and marketing materials, web, electronic, smartphone, social media, print materials and other mediums to recruit and retain out-of-state students. Produces meaningful messages and content to compel out-of-state students and their parents to choose UC Riverside. This is a one year career position with the possibility of extension depending upon funding. Writing samples or portfolio of samples are required as part of the recruitment. 

Key Responsibilities
Under limited supervision, researches, writes and/or edits material for a variety of publications for internal and external audiences, consulting with clients as necessary. 
Produces articles, press releases, profiles, briefings, blogs, collateral, and/or other written material using subject matter expertise.
As an editor, ensures clarity, organization, accuracy, style, and quality of written work.
Independently researches, selects sources for interview, and ensures accuracy of written pieces. Obtains copyright permission.
Assignments may include analytical, interpretive, reportorial/journalistic, or promotional/persuasive projects.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Working knowledge of marketing and design process.
Knowledge of computer apps for publishing, image handling, and/or web production.
Thorough skills to write clear, lively, engaging and compelling copy in a variety of styles appropriate to target audiences and/or the broader public...
Thorough attention to detail, project management and organizational skills.
Advanced knowledge of appropriate editorial style and publication guidelines.
Advanced project management, organizational and problem recognition...
Advanced knowledge of the fundamentals of writing, grammar, syntax, style, and punctuation and advanced skills to write clear, lively, engaging, compelling and effective...
Ability to use copy-writing and editing software.
Skill with design/advertising and communication trends as well as a deep knowledge of marketing and branding concepts.

Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
Experience writing for web, mobile and print writing in an advertising agency, digital design firm, or advertising/marketing environment. (Preferred)
Experience with the needs and challenges of out-of-state, college-bound and enrolled students and their parents in a higher education environment. (Preferred)
