I am looking for a telecommuting opportunity for an art direction or graphic design assignment, from concept through production. I graduated from the ArtCenter College of Design and have worked at several agencies in Los Angeles, on accounts from NEC Electronics to Tag Heuer watches. When Montana called, I joined Spiker Communications as Senior Art Director and was a driving force behind the agency’s work for clients such as St. Patrick Hospital and The Stock Farm. After a decade as an employee, I launched Hutchins FreeRange Creative, where I develop focused strategies and creative, campaign-worthy ideas. My work has appeared in the CLIO awards, the Lulu awards, and the Addys (Montana and Northwest). I know every aspect of print and broadcast production, including the supervision of budgets and the creation of bulletproof, drum-tight artwork.
For over 30 years, I have delivered smart, thoughtful, creative branding campaigns to individuals and businesses who want to grow. strategic brand storyteller, creative thinker, art director Hutchins FreeRange Creative 2002 – Present (14 years) We work with you to uncover your strengths, weaknesses, beliefs -- and what you wish to tell your audience. We sift through relevant, gathered information to get to your core essence, then determine ways your brand can establish a deep connection with people who buy your product or use your service. Those insights help us focus on the best medium for your message. The messages are developed with your involvement, every step of the way. We develop your messages to be seen online, in print, broadcast, collateral and packaging, infusing your brand message into every piece of communication. Our portfolio includes logos, stationery, and website storytelling. Art Director Spiker Communications 1989 – 2002 (13 years) Being an art director at a small to mid-size agency means you take on more than what you had ever envisioned. You stretch. As part of an art director/writer team, I developed ad campaigns and marketing materials (print, out-of-home, broadcast) for The Stock Farm, St. Patrick Hospital, First Security Bank, Rocky Mountain Log Homes, and local and regional clients. My graphic design work included product packaging and brand identity development. Knowledge of professional page layout and photo-editing programs was a must. Computer production and print/broadcast production skills were mandatory. The most significant contribution I made to Spiker Communications, upon my arrival in 1989, was introducing the Mac to Spiker's workflow. At the time we arrived all their artwork was analog; moving them to the Macintosh was a slow but steady climb. Art Director Hakuhodo Advertising America, Inc. 1980 – 1988 (8 years) Hakuhodo ran an ad in the L.A. Times looking for the next Hy Yablonka. Being the adventurous, curious person I am, I responded. I was hired to replace outgoing art director Taka Arai and was given the chance to grow a three-person creative department. The small agency grew to a staff of 25+ employees over the course of eight years. During that time I had opportunities to develop and produce campaigns introducing Japanese products to the American market. (Full resume is at www.linkedin.com/in/hutchinsfreerangecreative)
