As Senior Creative Director for the Publications Department at USD, I provide creative direction, design, and production for all periodicals developed by the Office of Publications. My principal duties include creative & conceptual development for all material within our department, along with the art supervision of outside freelancer designers; photographers and print coordination for all high-end publication for the university; which includes their flagship publication, the USD Magazine. I have also been responsible for establishing and coordinating budgetary and production schedules for projects under my care; working directly with printers and photographers on all of the production which include photo shoots and attending all press checks. I have served on the “Branding Committee” for USD, helping to establish a strong foundation for a corporate identity gateway for all marketing material as well as produced, art directed and edited many video presentations for content that has a web base presentation.

In the past, I have worked as an environmental graphic designer, illustrator, and photographer. For twelve years I worked as a Graphic Creative Consultant/Art Director for the Zoological Society of San Diego coordinating the design and fabrication of all interpretative panels, collateral, and merchandising materials.

Over the past twelve years I have worked as the Senior Creative Director for the USD Publications Department where I provide creative direction, conceptual design, photographic direction, and supervision of the USD Magazine and other periodicals within our department. I work directly with printers on all phases of the bidding and printing process; evaluating color corrections and attending press checks for each publication. I have also serve on the “Branding Committee”; establishing a foundation for aesthetic direction for all collateral material produced by the university. As we enter an evolving media platform, it has been my responsibility to oversee the design implementation of all material into multiple platforms. Along with my design skills, I have extended my skills to video art directing and editing of all magazine video productions.

For thirteen years I worked as a Graphic Consultant/Art Director for the Zoological Society of San Diego; coordinating the design and fabrication of all interpretative panels and donor identification markers for all major exhibit displays. My work at the zoo has also included the design of shopping bags and gift tags, t-shirts, mugs, beverage and drinking containers. In addition, I worked as a design consultant for San Diego State University Foundation, co-designing the SDSU Foundation Annual Report for sixteen years.

My responsibilities included the graphic supervision and art direction of all educational interpretative panels, major exhibit panel systems, and overseeing the restoration and continuity of the directional signage system, coordination and art direction of free-lance graphic designers, management of departmental budgets, establishing project budgetary needs, and overseeing the continuity of the corporate identity system.
