WORK EXPERIENCE: • March 2006 - Present, Penske Media Group, Los Angeles, CA. Senior Designer/Production Manager at Variety Magazine: Working in the Production Department at Variety, my duties cover both daily and weekly publications: creating display and house ads along with their digital assets; creating maps for layout purposes, trafficking and pre-flighting artwork; managing clients and vendors. Having worked on Variety’s Editorial team, I collaborated with writers and editors designing features, spotlights and partner content sections, as well as initiated photo research, worked with freelance illustrators for feature artwork, selecting and color-correcting final images. This position utilized my strong time management skills, excellent interpersonal communication capability and ability to manage multiple, competing deadlines. • January 2018 - Present, Penske Media Group, Los Angeles, CA. Production Manager at Deadline: I oversee the production of printed magazines and special publications - producing print estimates, distribution details, negotiating rates, set-up production timetables, create and manage production schedules, reviewing proofs, and handling press checks. • July 1999 - Feb. 2004, asylum design studio, Los Angeles, CA Designer/Production Artist: At asylum, I designed creative pieces according to clients needs and desires, while staying within budget. asylum is a 2-person studio, and therefore I was able to participate in all aspects of creative development, from client support to executing projects from start to finish. While collaborating with the Art Director as a Designer, I was responsible for preliminary sketches, layouts and final designs. I worked directly with clients and printers to create corporate identities, brochures, newsletters, promotional pieces such as direct mailers, posters and fliers, as well as publications and packaging. Production Assistant responsibilities included: layout, scanning, typesetting, proofreading, design alterations, illustration, logo clean up, image color correction, as well as online image researching and purchasing. Other technical and general assistance responsibilities included: periodic backup of all files and jobs, as well as assisting where and when needed from filing, mailings, coordinate deliveries, etc. • Jan. 1999 - Mar. 1999, NOVOCOM, Los Angeles, CA Intern: As an intern, I created support design for a company that is a world leader in broadcast media branding and design, and who works with various high-profile media clients such as Paramount Domestic Television, NBC, CBS, ABC, RTL, and others. Responsibilities included: developing logo studies, adding color treatments on logos, as well as assembling presentation boards and arranging delivery of presentations. • July 1994 - Mar. 1999, Coloriginals, Inc., Los Angeles, CA Art Assistant: As an assistant for a greeting card and stationary manufacturing company, my main job responsibilities were: working closely with the company President and Art Department during product development, and assisting in production in a variety of functions. In Product Development and Production, I would assist in design decisions (color, composition, message choice,...), create product templates, paint designs as necessary (watercolor, gauche) and make corrections to 4-color process film. Other administrative support responsibilities included: coordinating marketing materials featuring new product, assisting with general office projects, and helping with order fulfillment during seasonal fluctuations.
