Media Relations Manager
The Nature Conservancy
The Media Relations Manager is responsible for developing and implementing focused global and local media strategies and plans to elevate our brand, conservation priorities and stories, spokespeople and subject matter experts. 

This work includes:  
•	Identifying media opportunities and proactively developing stories and pitches 
•	Growing and strengthening relationships with key media outlets to increase media coverage and secure placements in major outlets
•	Develop content for dissemination via press releases and other distribution channels.
•	Serve as the organization’s media liaison
•	Managing media pitching, placement and dissemination of media information
•	Drafting talking points and coaching TNC’s spokespeople 
•	Developing and leading on strategies for Executive Visibility in key NYC metro media outlets

The Media Relations Manager must have strong writing skills and will be expected to develop message points, organizational storylines and talking points and media preparation.  S/he is knowledgeable and well versed on key environmental issues and top priorities for The Nature Conservancy, and has experience promoting those issues with the media. The Media Relations Manager will have a “nose for news” with creative and fresh ideas about conservation stories and priorities, and passion for seeing these ideas through to production.

•	Cultivating and managing relationships with top identified outlets, in collaboration with colleagues in New York and the Global Public Relations team
•	Identifying, implementing and executing media relations strategies to advance organization’s goals
•	Coordinating story development with marketing and PR colleagues across New York and wider
•	Working closely with key spokespersons for executive visibility and outreach plans
•	Proactive seeking and maximizing all relevant media opportunities in news cycle
•	Writing press materials, messages and talking points, press releases and press background information
•	Managing and monitoring press activity including events and press conferences
•	Managing press coverage reports for Quarterly Board meetings and Donors

•	Bachelor’s degree in related field and a minimum 5 years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•	Experience cultivating and managing client relationships.
•	Experience organizing and coordinating multiple projects.
•	Experience writing, editing and proofreading.

•	Experience managing and implementing media strategies and measuring results.
•	PR agency experience and/or cultivating and managing client relationships within a PR setting.
•	Experience developing media relations networks.
•	Knowledge and application of current and evolving trends in media relations.
•	Experience developing media relations networks.
•	Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills.
