Annualized Film Instructor - SFCC

Spokane Falls Community College (SFCC) is seeking applications from qualified candidates for a full-time annualized instructional position housed jointly in the departments of Applied Visual Arts (AVA) and Communication Arts and Modern Languages (CAML). This instructor will work collaboratively with faculty across three disciplines (Film Studies, Digital Filmmaking, and Drama) to facilitate the development and implementation of a film studies pathway and digital filmmaking degree programs. The instructor will teach a combination of Film Studies and Digital Filmmaking courses, depending on program needs.

Prepare for and instruct classes in film studies and digital filmmaking as appropriate to program needs, through traditional classroom, studio lab, hybrid, and online modalities. Examples of the types of courses typically assigned include Introduction to Film and Digital Cinematography.  
Collaborate with faculty in film studies and digital filmmaking to maintain and update curriculum in cinematography, editing and other necessary production elements. 
Collaborate with faculty in film studies, digital filmmaking, and drama to identify, acquire, and maintain necessary equipment for film production. This collaboration will also include participation in the advisory council chosen from on- and off-campus industry professionals who may help guide the development of the film studies program.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (Minimum Qualifications)
An earned Master’s, or MFA degree in Film, Film Studies or related field from an accredited institution, or a Bachelor's degree in a related field combined with five years of professional-level experience.
Demonstrated experience and competence in cinematography and filmmaking.
Demonstrated ability to teach film studies and film production.
Demonstrated ability in cross-discipline or artistic collaboration.
Demonstrated competence using industry-related computer hardware and software (including office management and film editing software) and ability to learn new software as needed.

This is a full-time, non-tenure track position with an entry level base salary (for a 175-day academic year contract) of $55,916 - $59,069 / year. Future advancement in base salary is based upon a combination of years of service accrued at our college and professional development activity.
TOTAL COMPENSATION:  $71,901 - $75,336.
