Director of Advancement

The Director of Advancement leads the strategy and execution of Boston Children’s Chorus’s fundraising efforts, leveraging the organization’s artistic excellence, community impact, and engaged donor base. This role is central to building a resilient and scalable philanthropic operation that supports long-term growth and sustainability.

The ideal candidate brings a proven track record in donor stewardship, acquisition, and retention, with the ability to translate organizational strengths into compelling philanthropic opportunities. In close partnership with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, Development Committee, and staff, this leader will expand and diversify revenue streams, deepen donor engagement, and build a robust future-facing pipeline of support.

Core Competencies
* Lead and execute a multi-year comprehensive fundraising campaign, currently at 40% to goal
* Develop a compelling case for support aligned with the three-year strategic plan
* Build and manage donor pipelines, including major donors, lapsed donors, and new prospects
* Strengthen retention and lifetime donor value through segmentation, recurring giving, and stewardship frameworks
* Partner with Finance and Executive leadership to stabilize cash flow and improve revenue forecasting
* Oversee major donor cultivation, moves management, and personalized stewardship strategies
* Lead and grow a high-performing Advancement team, including fundraising and marketing staff
* Optimize systems, CRM usage, and internal processes to strengthen donor relationships and revenue generation
* Foster a culture of philanthropy across the organization

Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will manage effectively across all levels, think strategically while remaining grounded in execution, and use data and metrics to continuously improve outcomes. They will be highly relational, detail-oriented, and skilled at translating high-level goals into actionable steps.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; minimum 7 years of fundraising experience. CFRE preferred. Demonstrated success in fundraising leadership, ideally in education and/or performing arts organizations. Campaign leadership and supervisory experience required. Familiarity with CRM systems, preferably Raiser’s Edge, strongly preferred.

Working Conditions
This hybrid role requires a minimum of 3 in-office days per week, with additional evening and weekend attendance at performances and community events as needed.
